Radon System Alarm With PPS Technology

New RSA1 Radon System Alarm by RadonAway

The RadonAway RSA1 Radon System Alarm is a vacuum monitoring device utilizing piezoresistive pressure sensor (PPS) technology. This alarm provides audible and visual indication to alert the homeowner when the radon system is not moving sufficient air to be effective in compliance with the current ANSI/AARST Radon Mitigation Standards.

This product satisfies current ANSI/AARST Radon Mitigation Standards.

Section 9.2.2: "Active Notification Monitors Required" of the Soil Gas Mitigation Standards for Existing Homes (ANSI/AARST SGM-SF-2017), which governs the methods required for mitigating radon gas and other soil vapors. The section states that "capacity for active visual and/or audible notification in the event of ASD (Active Soil Depressurization) fan or other mechanical failure shall be provided to actively warm occupants or other individuals responsible for monitoring."  An additional note states that "Sensors that trigger active notification are typically air pressure sensors, airflow sensors or circuits that detect electrical flow."  To read the full standard, click here.

RadonAway RSA1 Radon System Alarm Functional Modes

Sensing Mode (Normal Operation)
Sensing light blinks at 60 second intervals (3 flashes).

Test Mode
Audible "beep" sounds and all 4 lights illumintate when "Test" button pressed.

Pre-Alarm / Alarm Mode
Triggered by a >90% reduction in pressure. After 48 hours (pre-alarm interval), monitor beeps and alarm light flashes - then no light or beep for 60 seconds - then repeat until "Hush" is pressed or system is serviced.

Hush Mode
Stops alarm or service mode sounds for 7 days but visual indicator remains as programmed; after 7 days returns to sensing mode, alarm mode (with sound) or service mode (with sound).

Low Battery Mode
Battery voltage drops below 3.3V; 1 "chirp" and simultaneous flash at 5 minute intervals then stops for 5 minutes then repeats until battery drains or new battery installed.

Service Mode
If 3 pre-alarm conditions occur within a 48 hour timeframe, monitor beeps and alarm light flashes then no light or beep for 60 seconds, then repeats until "Hush" is pressed or system is serviced.
