Boston Blazer Paul Dawson Donates Hair, Wears Radon Tee

Worldwide Radon Tee Campaign Seeks to Reduce Lung Cancer Deaths

Ward Hill, MA, July 20, 2010 – The Radon Tee World Trek 2010, recently came to Massachusetts, where the Radon Tee visited Boston Blazers captain Paul Dawson. Introduced by CanSAR (Cancer Survivors Against Radon), the Radon Tee symbolizes the need for every homeowner to test their homes for radon and fix it if the radon level is high. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers, but radon-induced lung cancer deaths can be prevented by a simple home radon test.

Recently, Naggar took the Tee to Boston, where Boston Blazers professional indoor lacrosse player Paul Dawson posed with the Radon Tee after shedding his long hair in support of the fight against cancer. His hair was donated to Locks of Love via Friends Place, the patient consultation center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dawson, Blazer teammates, Sparks dancers and Scorch, the Blazers' mascot, posed for photos with the Radon Tee to help promote radon awareness. Photos from the Radon Tee tour will be added to the social media campaign at www.facebook.com/radontee.

Radon, an odorless, invisible, tasteless, radioactive gas can be present in any home. Massachusetts – and most of New England – is at higher risk for elevated radon levels than the national average. In fact, a Massachusetts DEP study of homes in Essex County reported that more than one-third of homes tested had radon levels higher than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended action level of 4.0 pCi/L. The EPA estimates that more than 700 Massachusetts residents die each year from radon-induced lung cancer.

The Radon Tee message is clear: Reduce Radon. Save Lives.
